Google Play screenshot sizes and store graphics

Google Play is more forgiving about dimensions than the App Store and stricter about how many assets you must supply. Instead of fixed pixel sizes it defines a range plus aspect-ratio limits, then requires a specific set of assets — icon, feature graphic, phone screenshots — before your listing can appear in some surfaces at all.

Screenshots: a range, not a fixed size

Each screenshot must be a JPEG or 24-bit PNG, between 320 px and 3840 px on its shortest and longest side, and no side may be more than twice the other. In practice, exporting phone screenshots at 1080 × 1920 or 1242 × 2208 keeps you comfortably inside every limit and still looks sharp on a large display. You need at least two screenshots to publish, but Play requires four or more phone screenshots for a listing to be eligible for promotion in several places, so treat four as the real minimum.

Tablet and other form factors are graded separately

Play now scores your listing per form factor. If you upload only phone screenshots, your app can be flagged as not optimised for tablets, foldables, Wear or TV, and it will be ranked down or filtered out on those devices. Supplying a 7-inch and 10-inch tablet set of genuinely tablet-shaped captures — landscape, wider layout — is one of the cheapest visibility wins available, and a mockup tool with a tablet device makes the landscape set a five-minute job.

The feature graphic is not optional

The feature graphic is a 1024 × 500 JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha. It appears at the top of your listing and is used as the frame when your promo video plays, so anything important should sit in the middle: the play button covers the centre and the edges get cropped on some layouts. Keep text to a handful of large words — it is often rendered at a fraction of its native size.
